Sarah Stiles
Sarah teaches piano
I believe each student is a unique individual with their own learning style and inherent
potentiality. I work with ages 7-senior. My teaching approach provides structured lessons with
fun and encouraging interaction alongside fostering development of fundamental knowledge
and skills, such as rhythm, reading, technique, and scales. I like asking questions that get
students exploring expression and meaning through interpretation, imagination, and creativity.
I teach piano, composition, theory, musicianship, improvisation, conduct and coach ensemble
skills with any instrument.
I grew up with piano from birth, started lessons at age six, classical training, participated in
recitals, Certificate of Merit testing, won competitions through the Music Teachers Association
of CA, and earned District and State Membership through National Guild of Piano Auditions. I
continued training and began to compose for my college degrees which include a B.A. in Music
from U.C. Berkeley, and a Master of Music in Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory.
Performances of my composition oeuvre include premieres with many ensembles and
organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. www.SarahStiles.com
