Alek Gayton | Percussion, Drums
Alek is a drummer, percussionist and educator native to the Northwest, who has been performing professionally for the past 12 years. He earned his B.A in Music from Eastern Washington University in 2014 and his M.M in Jazz and Improvised music from the University of Washington in 2021.
As an educator with 10 years of experience, Alek possesses the flexibility to teach to the individual student, ranging from style and groove on the drum set to orchestral and rudimental percussion. He believes in giving students the opportunity to explore and create on their instrument while focusing on fundamentals.
Over the last decade Alek has performed locally and nationally with a wide variety of artists including Delvon Lamar, Marc Seales, The Bob Curnow Big Band, Form Destroyer and the Seahawks Drumline. These opportunities have led to performances at notable events such as Monterey Jazz Festival's Next Generation, South by Southwest, Summer Melt Down, and the New Orleans Jazz Festival.
